Kirk has been building since 2002, starting as a project engineer on large commercial and pharmaceutical work in the Bay Area before bringing his career to Seattle. Since then he has delivered projects as a project manager, estimator, and preconstruction manager across multifamily, mixed-use, healthcare, and commercial office work — from design-build renovations at the Puget Sound VA Hospital to the 303 Battery project in downtown Seattle.
He is deeply invested in how projects actually get delivered. A certified Lean Construction Institute instructor in Lean Project Delivery, Target Value Delivery, and the Last Planner® System, he has led project teams in pull planning and lean methods from preconstruction through occupancy.
Kirk also teaches the next generation of builders: he holds a PhD from the University of Washington’s College of Built Environment, where he has taught as an instructor and developed the Digital Tools in Construction course.
